I specialize in making original Kalser straw hats. I learned to make them about 20 to 25 years ago from an old, ninety-year old woman. Since then I always make straw hats. Until now I've probably made about 200. They're always in demand, sometimes more, sometimes less. Some wear them with the traditional dress. Others use them for decoration and hang them on the wall in the hall or in the cellar; wherever they have room. We often use them to honour guests. If guests have come 20, 30 or 40 times we honour them and give them a Kalser straw hat.
